I really love waakye. do the leaves add any flavour or is it just for colour. what would be a substitute for the leaves if i cant find them?

Kwadwo Owiredu Yeboah · April 30, 2020 at 12:33 pm

"Some fried fish and waakye di3, wo boa kraa"!!!😃. On that note, I'm hitting the shops for the leaves cuz I've got everything else in house. I've always thought it was rather intimidating to cook this stuff but 'Imma gon' try like hell! (In my best Texan accent)😜

Why use bicarbonate on soaked beans mmmmm

Hannah Hans · April 30, 2020 at 12:33 pm

Sister, so the sole purpose of sorghum leaves is to add flavour or just colour? Sorghum in our country has green leaves not this kind.

Hannah Hans · April 30, 2020 at 12:33 pm

Why has my friend from Ghana not prepared this for me?. I am going to quarrel with her at work. She always bring me Ghanian dishes.

Danny Rose · April 30, 2020 at 12:33 pm

Beautiful Eagle · April 30, 2020 at 12:33 pm

I'm Nigerian but I must say that waakye with all the sides; (spaghetti, garri, leaves, plantain, and waakye stew with boiled eggs, and shitto) is hands down my favourite Ghanaian street food. The deliciousness is out of this world. This recipe is 👌👌👌.
