Mr Dan, those look absolutely amazing.

Sam Goodell · September 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

Dammed skippy brother. I love them. I used to think they were the best. Then I discovered Zipper peas, or zipper cream peas. If you haven't grown or eaten them, you have to try them.

That's a really nice over cook pot dish. Delicious and healthy meal. The beans turned out soft and all the flavors & essence in the sauce. Really awesome. You have a wonderful week, Dan!

My Mammaw in south Mississippi made me love purple hull peas. … She was such a good cook. And my Pappaw grew the veggies. I prefer bacon in mine too, and these look mighty tasty.

Gwendolyn · September 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

These were fresh so you didn't have to soak them. Nothing like fresh food. I would need some rice, cornbread, and some fresh lemonade.

Gwendolyn · September 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

The snaps. I started cooking with the snap by instinct. I like bacon too.

DIY Solar Homestead · September 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

Good eating my friend. New sub, #57 ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Debbie Bragg · September 10, 2019 at 7:00 pm

I was raised to cook with less seasoning. So for those that like simple cooking, I add only 3 ingredients. A little cooking oil or a thick slice of salt pork, washed well to remove the salt. When done I add salt and a tiny bit of sugar. My cooking technique is the same as yours. A great video Dan. My collards are planted and growing!๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Thank you so much!โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™โค๏ธ

Boy oh boy Dan we KNOW what hot in the kitchen means! Thanks for sharing how you cook those peas. Irene isnโ€™t big on black eyed and similar peas, but I love โ€˜em. Iโ€™m going to give your recipe a try the next time I can find similar peas. Thanks for sharing and hope you have a cooler week.
